Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao

Dr. G. Srinivasa Rao is an accomplished researcher in the area of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics of drugs in animal species. He obtained PhD from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar and worked as Senior Scientist in the Division of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Indian Veterinary Research, Izatnagar before joining Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University. In the year 2007, he joined SVVU as Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology. 

He is currently Principal Investigator of a ICAR outreach program on “Monitoring drug residues and environmental pollutants”. He has been co-principal investigator for one NIAB funded project on exploring the phytochemical for anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activity against bacteria causing mastitis. Recently, he performed one safety trail on Fipronil safety performance in dairy cattle that was sponsord by Melinda and Bill Gates foundation. He has been as Scientist-Mentor for one PhD scholar who is at present working as PI under woman scientist scheme-A of one DST project entitled “In vivo and ex vivo studies on therapeutic potential of quercetin in the treatment of experimental dysmenorrhoea”.

He published 25 papers in national and international journals along with others on pharmacokinetics and metabolism of fluoroquinolone antibacterial agents in ruminants and poultry birds. His publications received high citations.

He is acting as Associate Dean of NTR College of Veterinary Science, Gannavaram since 21st November 2016.

NTR College of Veterinary Science, Gannavaram

The NTR College of Veterinary Science was established in the year 1997-98 vide G. O. Ms. No. 33 Agri & Co-op (Agri.III) Department, dated 03-03-1998 at Gannavaram, Krishna Dt. and the college started functioning from 18-03-1998 offering BVSc & AH degree. Though initially established by Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University, presently it is a constituent college of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University, Tirupati since the inception of the university i.e. 01-04-2006. The college includes facilities and faculty strength as per the standards of Veterinary Council of India.

Outreach and Services

  1. Organized  exhibition stall at Mandepudivollage, Guntur to create awareness to farmers on Pradhan MantriPheemaYojana along with KVK, Lam Guntur on 4-4-2016.
  2. Imparted training to MPDEA’s (Multi Purpose Husbandry at Joint director (AH) office Vijayawada on 10-5-2016.
  3. Participated in special interactive programme with farmers on the eve of Nave Nirmana Deeksha programme by Govt. of AP on 5-6-2016 at AI Convention centre, Vijayawada as subject Matter Specialists.
  4. Organized exhibition stall on 16-8-2016 on the occasion of Krishna Pushkaralu 2016 at Pavithar SangamamGhat,Ferry, Ibrahimpatanam, Krishna DT
  5. Participated in Animal Husbandry Day celebration on 3-9-2016 and 5-11-2016 first Saturday of the month at Mallikapuram and Bantumilli Amalapuram Division
